"A need for future-proof varieties”

Minimal environmental impact

Climate and legislation are two factors that can affect crops significantly. We care about minimising the impact of our business operations on people and planet. We and our suppliers always strive to find more future-proof varieties.

Varieties like Baltic Fire, for example, which require less water and fertiliser and are more capable of withstanding extreme conditions such as drought or heat. The excellent, extended tuber dormancy is another advantage.

“Baltic Fire is scab-resistant and requires less nitrogen to grow than other common red-skinned potato varieties”
Ben Bredek from 3 Point Potatoes

“Not afraid of a challenge”

In partnership with a grower, we have also begun growing sweet potatoes in the Netherlands. That is no easy matter, as sweet potatoes normally grow in (sub)tropical climates.

Still, we believe in the importance of local food sources and have decided to tackle this challenge together.

"Eating with skin gives more flavour"

Less waste

We also ensure that the specialty varieties look very fine. As a result, potatoes do not have to be peeled, which prevents waste at the consumer’s home. And it immediately gives more flavor and texture.

Less transport

Growing as uniformly as possible and in packaging size is also something we strive for with our growers. The better the quality and the right size, the less fallout. And that in turn results in fewer transport movements to other processing purposes. So sustainable!
